Twice now I have had incidents of putting on a long form playthrough of an overly complicated minecraft mod pack as white noise to sleep and end up *glass shatter sfx* snapping awake to turn the video off because the guy starts going on a sidebar about how being a devote protestant with libertarian politics has affected his let's play channel

Watching people play through expert modpacks like Gregtech and Nomifactory is so funny.
The first episode will just be like, "Ok, so the first step is to actually collect 73836 rocks to knap into basic stone "tools" (sharp rocks) so that we can finally obtain the sticks and logs that we need to make actual tools (this part took at least 45 mins). Now with this, we are gaming. Consequently we can now find and use clay to make vessels for melting metal."
Then they embark on an adventure to find somewhere with rhyolite, an extrusive igneous rock that makes up the ground (you can find copper ore there) (getting all the copper took three hours) (all of this information is in the video). By the end of the first episode, they've got maybe an anvil, maybe some tools, and it doesn't seem like they're anywhere close to the industrial revolution.
Fast forward 6 (six) episodes, and they'll be saying shit like, "In order to make the next level of electric furnace, we need Naquadah and Lumium, so we're going to send our tier 5 Microminer into our 5x5 Microverse to reap our bountiful rewards. In the meanwhile, let's hop into the End using the end cake and harvest Krypton from the atmosphere (because that's apparently a thing) to increase the efficiency of our Naquadah furnaces."
But oh no! It turns out, to make the circuitry for this, they need tetrachloropolybutylethanobenzoate (C₆₈₅H₁₂₆₆Cl₄) and polybenzimidazole (C₂₀H₁₂N₄) (This one's an actual thing) (obtaining this will make commenters say that you have reached, and I quote, "Stage 2 Greggification"), its process of acquisition being somewhere between TREE(2) and TREE(3) steps long and requiring you to build so much industrial machinery you have to migrate to a space station just to avoid cluttering.
All of that and they'll still be at the Insane or Ludicrous Voltage tier (tier 6 to 7 out of 10)

They need to add the Withering Warden Ender Dragon Fucktron 3000 to Minecraft. If my computer doesn't start melting when I boot up Minecraft then it's a shitty game. Also I think the Mojang employees should get no breaks ever and they should constantly put out content for me specifically (JOKE)
thats it.

Get to Know You / Catch Up Tag
I was tagged by @devilrose — thank you!!
I’ll tag… @urbania-resident @dusksimulacre @horseghoul @gaypleasantview @gr47p @thehandsomecat @optimumchibi
Currently reading: Nothing right now! I think I need to find a new webcomic or two to chip away on sometime soon… Or maybe just get some books on my phone. The last book I read was ‘I’m Starting to Worry About This Big Black Box of Doom’ but I didn’t get too far because executive dysfunction and it being library book. Of what I read, it was a very interesting book! The 27-y/o autistic NEET protagonist and the weird girl deutragonist spoke to me. I didn't get far enough to judge quality, but it was a very accessible read, I can say that.
Last song I listened to: It was definitely something on the Sirius XM 80s Channel. But it’s boring to say ‘well, I just don’t know what!’ Anyways, my phone says ‘Pygmalion’ by The Scary Jokes bc…yeah that’s my music taste. I like the album it's from as a whole!
Last series: TV Series? I… do not watch much TV. I guess I watched Spongebob Seasons 1-3 not too long ago for the nostalgia.
Last movie: Literally do not know if I’ve formally watched a movie since like… August? If this counts, yesterday, I had to sit in a waiting room for a few hours (a family member was getting surgery), and there were movies playing on the TV. The last one I got to see was Illumination's Grinch Movie. There weren't captions on and the TV was on pretty quiet, so I couldn't hear a thing. I just spent the entire time thinking about the Who's designs and how they interpreted them compared to the original. Anyways! I should fix this.
Currently watching: I DO… watch a lot of YouTube. And I have an answer to this! Neurotic Goose’s series on completing the Gregtech Horizons Minecraft Mod Pack starting with absolutely nothing (and I plan on watching his other series too!). Hits the exact threshold of being interesting enough to listen to/watch and unexciting enough to fall asleep to. I love how low-budget the production quality for the series is and how the script is written. Tickles my brain in the right spot.
Sweet/Savoury/Spicy?: Sweet 100%, but spicy is good. I have a decent spice tolerance. Savory is can be good, but I don't like salty things a whole lot. My REAL favorite flavor is sour though. I use a LOT of vinegar…
Relationship status: Single and disinterested in changing that.
Favorite color: Either bright red or dark purple/plum! Not completely sure which. :)
Current obsession: [gestures towards blog] Okayyy, the sims handhelds is my special interest and my default when I'm not particularly obsessed with anything at the moment. I have a lot of projects I can work on associated with The Sims... and I tend to get obsessed with one project at a time in a cycle. I've been most into developing my aforementioned Neocities website (so website development, I guess. I've been looking at a lot of websites to see how they're structured n' stuff). Outside of that I have been playing a large, kitchen sink-ish Minecraft mod pack centered around Cobblemon (Minecraft Pokémon Mod).
Tea or Coffee: Tea. Herbal teas to be specific...
Last Thing I Googled: 'minecraft screenshots’ bc i was looking for the hotkey to take minecraft screenshots with (F2, if anyone was curious).

have. have we talked about what video games merlot woudl enjoy. have we discussed merlot gamer
huge fan of minecraft, though mods get him kinda disoriented (gregtech im looking at you...). do NOT make him play hardcore she'll cry when she loses the world.
rhythm games, mostly oriented towards project diva but occasional osu enjoyer. really bad at guitar hero but on keyboard (ie fortnite festival) he's decent
horror games are absolutely out of the question. especially ones that seem normal at first but there are things that start to look "off"
rpgs are always good. skyrim, final fantasy, transistor.
pretty much lots of casual stuff, slow paced games that you can sit down, chill out and enjoy without feeling the need to stress over much. mostly because merlot isn't good at difficult games. she would keel over trying dark souls

Q: Why do you post so infrequently?
A: You are looking at a big progressive kitchensink pack for Minecraft 1.7.10 balanced around the mod GregTech.
Over 10 years of development (and still going) have formed a balance and refinement that only a handful of packs can keep up with. We are talking about thousands of recipe tweaks, a massive questbook with over 3000 quests, unique world generation, custom mods coded for the pack, custom Thaumonomicon pages, and many more. The main intentions of the pack are a long-lasting experience and tying mods together in a progressive fashion, making it feel more like a single game than a compilation of mods thrown together.
To reach this goal, GT New Horizons is using the tiers (basically ages of technology) from GregTech and allocates content of other mods to a fitting point within the progression.
Starting in the stone age you will barely be able to survive until you get your first steam machines and, eventually, reach electricity. Later on, you will have to visit other planets and dimensions to gather important resources and fight mighty bosses to channel their magical power.
If you are a fan of expert mode packs and want to take it to the next level, this pack will be your friend!

gregposting #3
It is greg time! This time I will be presenting my largest automation project in modded minecraft thusfar: Automated LV, MV, and HV circuits!
Playing Nomifactory CEu. MV age, 72 hours playtime (18 hours since last gregpost)
Tumblr media
Before we get to the big ole' circuits line, we have the primary boon of HV circuits: AE autocrafting! Here we have the AE basement.
Tumblr media
And because relatively little of the autocrafting in any gregtech pack will happen in the molecular assemblers, here we have the 22 machines currently employed for the job.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And finally, the star of the show which will be supporting my efforts for a while, the circuits line. Although the conduits are all over the place, it's decently organized with each group of machines handling the production of 1 or 2 ingredients.
Tumblr media
Here's the flowchart used to plan the whole thing. There're about 45 machines in total. Also, in addition to the boule EBF, there're two more EBFs; one for silicon and one for aluminium. They feed into the ME system rather than directly into the circuits line, as they're often used elsewhere.
And with all this, what comes next? The clear next step is to expand the base's energy production. With the circuits line active, the base is consuming almost 20,000 RF/t. Current production has a capacity of ~25,000 RF/t, but it's burning through fuel slightly faster than the DML system produces it. Energy demands will only continue to grow, too. Therefore, the next step will be to increase PPC production and expand the DML line. After that, I'll be working towards HV proper.

GregTech: New Horizons
Soooooooo Ive been playing this modpack sinceeeeeee May 25th this year? and wanted to talk about it, so firstly I want to say this modpack's Curseforge download doesnt work so we need to download it thro the Github or official modpack site!!
Tumblr media
Now anyway this is the earliest screenshot of me playing the modpack!! I was pretty scared about the mobs due to having seen how the mobs work in a video series, this isnt a screenshot from my current world though.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In this modpack you see, there are Tiers of technology that it expects you to get.. these are the main progression of the modpack with some extras sometimes... Im currently at Tier 0.5, as you can see I had to progress from tier -1 basically to 0.5.. this tier's objective is to get you to go to the nether but Ive already made the portal without acquiring the flint and steel needed, rewinding a bit.. I spawned in this world on a mountain side and traversed a bit until I found a small village without villagers, I went in a house and its my base now
So getting that out of the way, the recipes in any gregtech modpack are EXTREEMLY grindy, there was this one modpack I use to like called omnifactory wich had a remake recently Im going to start to play soon wich oh my the recipies were torture.
So you want to make a bed? not so simple.. Ill show the recipe for it later.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
anyway. so Im on tier 0.5 and there are 10 tiers and extras... look at this. we got this here a ton... the grayed out ones are locked chapters..
Tumblr media
Oh yeah not to mention this mod is in here.... love that :/.. hard to manage food :sob:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh right in this modpack ore distribution is different as well.. instead of them being at different Y levels there are now ore chunks, a 9x9 squares of 16x16 chunks... aka 144x144 blocks of space where mostly just one ore spawns... first two pictures are of a Redstone chunk Im trying to mine out and the 3rd is of a copper ore chunk, and the 4th is a iron chunk!! I was going to live there but the humidity of that biome is too low to be useful... right! humidity, each biome has a temperature and humidity that affect your machines... high humidity makes water tanks fill with water by themselves!! good to cool machines :3
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
OH YEAH!!!! this hehehe, this is my base :3..
I made a little tower farm, my lil shed with machines, a coal boiler, a macerator, a compressor and etc, my house that has two stories, I built a wall so I can work at night, mobs are a lot harder now, there are infernal mobs I think? and mobs with modifiers aka making them much stronger aswell as different types of each mobs all stronger then the vanilla ones.. and etc, this modpack is being really fun!! I am liking trying to optimize everything I can, I am trying to get a blast furnace right now!! its real hard since I have to make concrete >:^!!! but yeah!! Steel is hard to get uw u..
Tumblr media
This is the inside of my house also!! got my tinkers smelter and tinkers stuff, all my chests. my iron furnaces are hidden.. you can only see one slightly, there is my coke oven on the wall there, and as you see its well lit!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
These are some of the ore chunks I found on the mini-map >:0.. along with two pictures of my spider spawner, I die a lot there since they fire some weird stuff at me and I cant avoid it!! I should build a better farm I know... I dont know how though for now!!! and thats all I wana share uw u

im starting to think i might like make a gregtech-like mod for modern minecraft. But like instead of realism it'd be fantasy for its "genre"... Idk i'd really have to plan it out. The main reason for fantasy is GT already does the whole tech and realism and "btw to get this thing you have to do an irl processing line for this" and all that, and I don't want to just do that again... GT can get updated for modern versions (and there is forks of it for modern versions, but iirc development is spotty at times on them) for the realism stuff, I want to be at least somewhat novel.
Not magic, not magic tech. It'll still be tech, but it'll be fantasy materials and intermediate products and all that. We're not going for a processing line of breaking down Vanadium Magnetite, we're doing a processing line of breaking down Sparkstone or smth. idfk and now im realizing this will just lead to Botania tech mod debate if i do this because it'll incorporate tech in a fantasy way.
